I mentioned that I was going to begin merging http://brent.epicserve.com with http://www.epicserve.com. I had titled the name of the website for http://brent.epicserve.com "OPOS" which stood for "The O'Connor's Page 'O Stuff." OPOS was an evolution from "The O'Connor's Page 'O Stuff" which was my first personal website way back when I first started doing "webdesign." The first site was done using the Html editor that came with Netscrape 3.0 (shudder).
Now that I'm not doing Epicserve as my full-time business anymore, I thought it was fitting that I merge OPOS and Epicserve into one site. Especially since the Epicserve site was becoming way out of date.
I've now merged the two sites into one. I guess more accurately, I copied OPOS to Epicserve.com and then updated and changed a few things. I was just going to focus on the design of Epicserve.com, but as a backend programmer I couldn't resist the urge to tidy up some of the backend. After spending some time learning Django, I decided that for my sites that still use PHP it wouldn't be practical to covert most of my existing sites to Django. But after using Django I decided that I really needed a Controller class to use for my job. So what better way to write a new class for my job then to write one for this site which is a lot smaller in scale.
I've finished writing my controller class and implementing it into this site. I'm really pleased with it so far and I like how it's forcing me to write everything using objects. If I get a chance to comment the code better and document it, I will share the source of the controller class on this blog.
In addition to making everything on this site run threw the controller class I've also added a little banner that shows that the new design for this site is coming soon. You can also go to my about page and keep hitting refresh and see some of the many faces of Brent. I was feeling a little spunky this weekend so I cut off all my hair.
Keep checking this site as I'm doing a live re-align.
