Another Reason to Buy a Mac
Looks like Apple just released a public beta of "Boot Camp." Boot Camp is a free public beta from Apple that lets you install Microsoft Windows XP on any Intel based Mac. I hope Apple doesn't get sued by Microsoft about some kind of a licensing issue or something. This could get people to buy a Mac that had been thinking about buying one but didn't want to because they had windows applications or games that they still needed to use.
This is my favorite quote from the Boot Camp page:
Windows running on a Mac is like Windows running on a PC. That means it'll be subject to the same attacks that plague the Windows world. So be sure to keep it updated with the latest Microsoft Windows security fixes.
Another neat thing that you can do on your Mac is use a program like Q to run Windows XP virtually inside OSX. This might be better for web developers that just want to run Windows Internet Explorer for testing without having to reboot their computer. Q is basically an open source free equivalent to Microsoft Virtual PC.

I think both Apple and Microsoft stand to gain on this transaction. Microsoft doesn't really care what kind of hardware you run on so long as you pay for your licenses. Apple stands to gain by getting folks that are hesitant, but can now say, "Well, if I don't like it, I can always run Windows on it." Microsoft stands to gain from the Mac-fan crowd that can now say, "Sweet! I've always wanted to run program X that's Windows only, but I could never stomach buying a PC."
Anyway, I think this is a great idea and the rumors of native virtualization built-in to Leapard make it sound all the sweeter.
