Christian Genres
It's so annoying… Why doesn't the AMG Music Database (http://www.allmusic.com) that is used by Windows Media Player to update your metadata for your music have better and more specific genres for Christian music? I'm sorry but I don't consider Audio Adrenaline, Bride, DC Talk and others to be Gospel music. Why don't they have genres like Christian Rock, Christian Rap / Hip-Hop and Christian Pop? And what is up with having a genre called religious? Does anyone else find this annoying?

I think Pink Floyd could be considered religious. At least I feel like you have to be high to appreciate their music. And from what I hear, it's quite the religious experience to watch Wizard of Oz while listening to Pink Floyd and passing the peace pipe! And I certainly couldn't forget to put bands like Creed, U2 and Evanessence in the genre of religious. (Insert sarcastic detector here.) Really, even Marilyn Manson could be considered religious since his music is definitely descriptive of his religion. Dang old music genres, I tell you what!
Interesting. When did they redesign their site? Not bad, but not great, either; a lot of header space on all the pages. I don't remember there being a login in the past; kind of annoying. I haven't visited in a couple of months, although they're usually my first stop for checking music info.
I'd say they need easier genre navigation and search, in general (couldn't find Religious). I think Spiritual would be a better description than Religious, according to Andy's comment. Also, while Gospel doesn't sound like the right category, that's the technical term; I always found it strange, too, when the GMA had their week of events in Nashville. The misnomer is somewhat like SBC where the names are kept mainly because of tradition.
I was thinking about music review sites the other day. Know of any metasearch music review sites. Movie Review Query Engine is pretty good for films, but I don't know of a music equivalent.
By the way, some of your page colors are getting pushed around on your site, specifically the comment backgrounds in IE6 (I know, it's a horrible browser). I got a lot of help on SitePoint Forums to fix many of my newbie CSS issues. Also, I kept getting a "website entered was not valid" error when I Submit. So here's my site: Zepfanman.com.
God bless....
Thanks for posting your comment on my website and letting me know about the colors. I actually knew about the colors I just haven't had time to sit down and fix it yet.
My whole point about the article is that Christian music isn't the same as it was 30 years ago when about the only music you had was "Gospel." And when I say Gospel I mean Gospel in the since of ballad type vocals, you know what I'm talking about. Amongst Christians when you say Gospel music it means that type of music. And amongst Christians there are the exact same genres as there are in the secular world but you just put the word christian in front of the genre type. The genres might not be exactly the same but they are pretty close.
I personally like Christian Rock and Christian Alternative music the best right now.
PS, You might find these links good as far as Christian music goes.
